I disagree with this. The "problem" of course is not "a word" per se, it's the racial hatred. Trying to fight to normalize a word does nothing to solve the underlying problem, the hate that gave birth to the word's current connotations. It's not that easy to kill racism. Also...

Peter, you should read Black Skin, White Masks by Frantz Fannon to get a better understanding of racial relations from a different perspective and understand how oppressed people of color are put into non-personhood by these words. Words do have power.
